What You Don’t Like (But I Do)
Yerevan, Armenia
“What You Don’t Like (But I Do)” is a deeply personal photographic series exploring body image, vulnerability, and the quiet courage it takes to be seen. Through intimate portraits, the project highlights the features people often try to hide and reframes them as something worthy of attention, softness, and even admiration. It is not about “fixing” insecurities, but about changing the way we look at them.
Bringing this project to Yerevan held a deeply personal meaning. Armenia is a place where identity, heritage, and collective memory are strongly felt and where conversations around vulnerability are often more private, held within close circles. Creating space for this dialogue in such a context became especially significant.
The exhibition took place at A1 Art Space, where the space itself became part of this dialogue - intimate, open, and grounded in presence. The opening was hosted by Varduhi Sukiasyan, author of “He. A Conversation with the Prophet”, whose thoughtful and sensitive approach set the tone for an evening centered around honesty and reflection.
The exhibition unfolded as an emotionally resonant experience, where the connection between the works and the audience felt immediate and deeply human. Visitors didn’t just observe the images - they recognized themselves within them.
Conversations that are not always easily spoken found their way into the space. Stories were shared quietly, but with sincerity. There was a feeling of closeness - of people allowing themselves to be seen, perhaps more than they expected.
This project continues to grow as a reminder: what we are taught to hide or dislike about ourselves might be exactly what connects us to each other, and to where we come from.
